Feeling Peaceful

Hi all!

I hope you’re all well. I am feeling extremely happy right now! I am currently on a small break in Zaragoza, Spain to visit my friend John. We planned this little trip a few weeks ago, so it was quite last minute, but when I checked the flights they were only 40 euros…return! How could I say no?

John came to visit me back when I was in Spain. We spent most of our time around Sevilla and went on a day trip to Córdoba and had a generally fab time. We decided that when I was in Paris I would have to come to visit John in his city, so that’s exactly what I’m doing and I couldn’t be happier that I’m doing it! Zaragoza is beautiful and the weather is absolutely di-VINE. I’m not really looking forward to going back to Paris’ up-and-down weather!

The main purpose of this post (which is only going to be a little thing) isn’t to talk about my trip to Spain – I’ll be doing that in a post hopefully this week! What I really wanted to talk about is how happy I am right now.

So last Friday I handed in my last piece of work for university until I go back in October. That means I have no academic obligations for five months! Awesome! Last week was mostly spent either procrastinating, thinking/worrying about doing my work or actually doing my work, so it wasn’t the most fun week I have ever had. Come Wednesday (because we have to hand in a physical copy as well as a digital copy of our Year Abroad Projects meaning we have to leave at least three days to post it back to England…STUPID idea – take note Aston LSS!!) I had a weight lifted from my shoulders and the world was a better place. Not really, but I definitely felt much lighter, and the three months I have left ahead of me suddenly looked much better and sunnier!

Spending these five days away has really let me relax and enjoy my time without having to think about anything else at all except what I’m going to eat for dinner and whether I should put some more sun cream on or not. It has been really good for me and I am feeling much much happier and calmer and relaxed than normal (Me? Calmer than normal? I didn’t think it was possible but it is!), something nice after a few months of constantly having something hanging over my head.

From now on, I am just going to enjoy my time in Paris and use it the best that I can. I am excited to be making plans for more visits from friends and am making a mental list of all the things I want to do before I leave.

Before I go I just want to say a big WELL DONE to all the Aston year abroad students who have completed their YAPs now. We’re freeee!!

I would also like to tell the second years at Aston (and anywhere!) that if you have any questions at all about what I am doing, my job and/or my experience in France or Spain (or both!) then you are more than welcome to contact me through a comment on my blog, through my Twitter via a tweet or a direct message, or, for the Aston French students, you can find me on Facebook through our French group.

I hope you’re all enjoying the start of summer and profiting from the last of your time abroad (if you’re an international placement student, of course). It’s not long now until we’ll all be back at university whether we like it or not!

Until next time,

H x
