In true Hannah International style, this post comes a few weeks late. Mid-June, I was spending a weekend in Birmingham with friends and their family, and I sneaked away from them for a few hours on the Sunday to attend my second ever blogging event – the Blogger Tiki Party!
Organised by the wonderful Kirsty from Kirsty Leanne, and hosted at Birmingham’s own little piece of tropical paradise, Island Bar, the #BloggerTikiParty was something I had been looking forward to for a few months, and I wasn’t disappointed!
Thanks to Malibu and their celebration of National Piña Colada Day on the same day as the party, most of us laid claim to a free piña colada cocktail, and they even let us make our own! I was happy to be the very first to make her own, and it was a lot of fun. I was concentrating a lot, though, something that doesn’t make for very good photos!
After my little piña colada masterclass I took a wander round the event and spoke to a few of the people who had attended from a variety of brands, including Love Aroma who had some amazing cocktail scented Yankee Candles with them and who gifted us all with some lovely candles and melts to use at home, Lipivir gifting us (or in my case, my sister) with a cold sore cure-cum-lipstick base, and my favourite gift of the lot, a Toad Diaries blog planner! I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now and plan to use it for a little longer before I give a proper review of it, but watch this space!
As well as a raffle with a whole host of amazing prizes (which I didn’t win; I’m heartbroken), Kirsty put together an astounding goody bag full of all sorts of goodies from many different brands. My favourite item was by far and above the piña colada naturally flavoured icing sugar from Sugar and Crumbs which I will definitely be using in a recipe for piña colada cupcakes sometime soon (and yes I will share the recipe with you!).
The whole event was well organised and I met even more lovely bloggers, including the wonderful Becky from Blogger and the Geek and the fabulous Ms Mistry. Despite a disappointing aftermath with Kirsty revealing the selfish and greedy actions of a few bloggers at the event (read her post about it here), I really enjoyed myself and can’t wait until the #BloggerHalloweenParty in October!
