Kuala Lumpur | Travel Series

My first trip of 2017 is over, and it was an amazing one! I visited my 9th and 10th countries – Malaysia and Brunei – and celebrated Chinese New Year for the first time ever. The first five days of my trip were spent exploring Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, seeing everything it has to offer. In between stuffing my face with delicious food, I visited the Thean Hou Buddist temple, the famous Batu Caves, dined at the top of the city in the Atmosphere 360 restaurant in the KL Tower, shopped on the Petaling Street market in Chinatown and ate on the Jalan Alor food street, got soaked in the rain at the Petronas Towers, had my first ever massage and enjoyed lots (and lots and lots…) of food and drink! My schedule was pretty jam-packed – this list of activities is not exhaustive! – but despite suffering from jetlag for the first time and also adjusting to a pretty extreme temperature change (from less than 10 Celcius in the UK to almost 30 Celcius in KL!) I enjoyed every moment.

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a sprawling city of skyscrapers and crowded accommodation. It’s located on the western peninsula of the country, often called mainland Malaysia, the other, eastern peninsula being situated on Borneo alongside Brunei and Indonesia. With a population of 1.7 million people and status as an alpha world city, it is a busy, bustling metropolis that lives well into the night and early morning. A host of the Formula One Grand Prix and home of the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur is truly an international city with a huge draw on tourists from all across the world. It is a thriving, crowded place and is home to people of a huge variety of racial origins, making for a steaming hotpot of culture…and amazing food!

Over the next couple of months you can expect to read all about everything I got up to during my short time in the city! Alongside my posts, you’ll be able to see extra photos of all the sights and special details of the city over on my Instagram feed, as well as the photos I’ve already posted! Make sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so you don’t miss anything – it’s going to be exciting!

When we chatted on Twitter recently about Malaysia, I didn’t realise you’d been there so recently! (I haven’t been up to date on reading blogs of late). How fab! Loving these posts!
