Some days are better than others, and my day today was certainly better than yesterday. A multitude of simple reasons have added up to me having had a pretty good day in all. Wednesday was rife with anxiety, mess and negative thoughts about a variety of things (mostly myself and my inability to look after myself and lead a productive, fulfilling life), but today brought me back up.
One of the main reasons why I felt like a piece of crap yesterday was because (let’s be honest) I’ve been a bit shit with this blog since I moved to Korea. I have a whole page full of blog post ideas in my planner but I can’t find the energy and motivation to write them. So when I thought about what a good day I’d had, I decided to share it with you; hopefully to get my mojo back, but if not, well, then you’ve just heard about this nice little day of mine.
It’s only one week until my parents and boyfriend come to visit!
This is the best part about my whole life right now. Just seven short days until I get to see my boyfriend after 9 weeks apart, 6.5 months since I last saw my mum, and 7 months since I saw my dad. The last time I saw him was before I walked through security at Gatwick Airport to get on my flight over here, and I’M GOING TO SEE HIM (and the others) IN 168 HOURS!! Can you tell I’m a little excited?
All my students ate their lunch today.
On Thursdays, I serve lunch to a notoriously picky and whiny class at my school. Today, however, I was blessed by the stars and given a GREAT lunch. All my kids ate everything on their trays without a single complaint. It was a m a z i n g.
I have a new intercom for my apartment.
I cam home during my lunch today to have a new intercom phone fitted in my flat. Until now, I had been answering the door without knowing who was on the other side, but now I have a functioning intercom I can check the camera and even speak to them without having to go to the door. I feel much safer now!
I’ve started planning Blogmas 2017!
Some of you may remember that I took part in Blogmas last year. I had a lot of fun doing it, and I want to do it again this year. It will most certainly have a heavy focus on Korea and how I (and other people) spend Christmas here, so keep your eyes peeled on the 1st of December for when I publish that first post in a 25-day streak!
My favourite band is releasing a new album in a matter of hours.
The Killers have been my favourite band since I began listening to them somewhere around the age of 9 or 10. They are an amazing band from Las Vegas but who channel British rock, and I LOVE THEM. They are, however, notoriously bad for releasing new music. In the 16 years since they were formed they have only released 4 albums and a compilation of B-sides and covers, and in the last 5 years we’ve had only a handful of Christmas and charity singles. UNTIL TOMORROW. Their new album is called Wonderful, Wonderful, and I have it on pre-order. No-one take my earphones out for a week please.
I was discussing plans with Fii for something exciting that is happening here in Seoul in October. It’s a little out of my comfort zone and definitely not in my field of expertise, but I’m really interested by it and excited to go with Fii and have her guide me around like a little lost puppy.
I painted my nails.
I know what you’re thinking. “Doesn’t she always paint her nails?” Well, not recently, no. They’re been a bit of an un-filed, bendy mess from both neglect and a rushed polish removal a couple of weeks ago. And the state of my nails kind of tells you how my mental health has been doing recently. No nail care? No self-care. So tonight I changed that. I filed and painted my nails with a lovely shimmery pink in shade 16. Lovely Wedding from Modi, and now I do feel, well, lovely.
And there you have my little wins and happy points of the day. In the Peter Pan song, if you think of any happy little thought you can fly. I’m hoping that my wonderful thoughts this evening will keep me flying for a while.
